Project Description
Nepal House of Hope / Women’s Shelters
This ministry focuses on victims of girl trafficking throughout the nation of Nepal through Project Rescue. Each year in Nepal, over 15,000 young girls from impoverished rural areas of the country are either kidnapped or lured away from their families with the promise of a good job and then sold into a horrible life of forced prostitution in India or other parts of the world.
In 1998 a home was established called House of Hope as an after care shelter where women and children who have been rescued can find a safe place to live and have their lives restored by the power of Jesus Christ. They address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the ladies and children and provide education, vocational training, and discipleship opportunities. Most of the ladies are HIV positive and many suffer from TB and other illnesses, so providing good medical care is one of the priorities. We have seen miracles of healing, restoration, and provision as they have ministered to these broken lives.
They also work in the area of prevention of trafficking, traveling to village schools, churches, and community centers to raise awareness and to help people understand the ploys of the traffickers who come seeking to steal their daughters. The rescued ladies are working toward being self supporting members of society, by making and selling hand made items.
Many years the ladies from the House of Hope will send us a box of hand made scarfs or table runners. Maybe some of the our friends have received one of these items at our Kingdom Investors golf tournament?
